Join Danny Van Fleet, for the ride of a lifetimeThe Mormon Trail Wagon Train and Hand Cart 150-year reenactment in 1996 and 1997 brought families and individuals together from many states and countries. Most of us were strangers to one another at the beginning of the trail. None of us were sure we could make the entire trek, but the farther we traveled, the more we wanted to complete the trail all the way to Utah.
Some joined the wagon train along the way. Everyone was welcome to come along. As the wagon train made its way west, problems would arise, but obstacles were overcome as we worked together as one large family to make it all the way.
As we traveled the trail last year, from Nauvoo, Illinois, to Winter Quarters, Nebraska, the first leg of our 3-stage journey for 2008-2010, the bonds that were formed between people helping people has started a new legacy and lifelong friendships. We now have another family of people experiencing the footsteps of our pioneering ancestors and we hope you will join us this year!
We had such a profound experience, we want to share this ride with all of you. We realize the economic turmoil our country is suffering right now, so we're doing everything we can to enable as many people to join, including making this ride as affordable as possible.
We will gather at Council Bluffs, Iowa on Saturday, May 23rd, and travel to Winter Quarters, Nebraska, where we will camp before continuing our journey west. This year we will be riding along side a hand cart company that will be making their own trek along the entire trail.
Start making plans now to join us for a day, a week, or all the way, as we navigate the trail west once again.
Just lace up your walking shoes, saddle up your horse or mule, or hitch up your team to your wagon and join me for a trip of a lifetime. The spirit of the trail will do the rest!
