Join me, Danny Van Fleet, for the ride of a lifetime

The Mormon Trail Wagon Train and Hand Cart 150-year reenactment in 1996 and 1997 brought families and individuals together from many states and countries. Most of us were strangers to one another at the beginning of the trail. None of us were sure we could make the entire trek, but the farther we traveled, the more we wanted to complete the trail all the way to Utah.

Some joined the wagon train along the way. Everyone was welcome to come along. As the wagon train made its way west, problems would arise, but obstacles were overcome as we worked together as one large family to make it all the way.

The Mormon Trail West is a life changing experience

The bonds that were formed between people helping people has endured these past ten years since the first reenactment and will most likely last a lifetime. The next wagon train to go west to Salt Lake City from Nauvoo will write its own legacy and build its own bonds and lifelong friendships. It will be the birth of a new family of people wanting to experience the footsteps of our pioneering ancestors as they made their way to Zion in the 1800s.

At Winter Quarters in Omaha, Nebraska, April 1997, President Hinckley said to the participants as they prepared to head west to Salt Lake City, "You will tell your children and your grandchildren about the great trek west you made..."

This statement will ring true again. The most common remark I've heard since 1997 is, "I wish I would have gone on the Wagon Train. I should have made the effort." Here's your second chance - let's do it!

I hope you will join us for the next wagon train to leave from Nauvoo, Illinois, on May 31st, 2008

Start making plans now to join us for a day, a week, or all month, as we navigate the trail west once again!

The plan is to travel from Nauvoo to Winter Quarters next June. Then the following year, June of 2009, we'll continue our journey from Winter Quarters in Omaha, Nebraska, and go west for a month again. From that point, we'll start again in 2010 and continue to Salt Lake City, Utah, to complete the trail west. This trail will change your life for the better!

Just lace up your walking shoes, saddle up your horse or mule, or hitch up your team to your wagon and join me for a trip of a lifetime. The spirit of the trail will do the rest!
